One of the most critical factors in any career or employment transition decision are the financial considerations and constraints which must be addressed and planned for. The Financial Planning program covers all the major factors which normally should be included in this process and provides worksheets to collect and summarize information which is needed for a meeting with a financial advisor.

Aptitude Assessment
The Aptitude assessment is designed to help clients understand which occupations they have the most ability to do well in.
The Aptitude tests cover six areas; clerical perception, vocabulary, numerical computation, numerical reasoning, spatial visualization & inductive reasoning. Tests are timed and take between five to eight minutes to complete. Clients receive a report where they can explore a range of occupations depending on the level of training they might undertake. |

College Program Interest Test
Clients looking at a longer term employment direction will often consider training or education as a viable option. This training often takes place in a College environment and the link between College programs and specific careers or jobs is not always obvious. The College program interest tests are designed to help clients determine which of five College program areas they have the most interest in. These areas include: Social Sciences and Humanities, Business & Economics, Arts and Communications, Science & Technology and Engineering. Clients review detailed information including videos on the careers and jobs associated with each College major. Each of the interest tests can be completed in 20-30 minutes. |

Labour Market Exploration (WorkStart Help)
The Career and Labour Market Exploration component is designed to help clients explore a wide range of career, occupation or job specific information to assist their decisions on new fields or types of work they may be able to transition to. The website contains links to hundreds of site which have been reviewed, indexed and catalogued to help make this exploration activity focused and relevant. |

Self Employment (Entrepreneurial) Assessment
The Entrepreneurial Attitude assessment allows clients to rate their skills and capabilities across a range of characteristics needed to succeed in business. Clients’ results are then shown relative to those of successful entrepreneurs. The report provides a good indicator of how “ready” a client may be to consider self employment and areas which are strengths for them as well as others where they may need to improve. |

Skills Development – (Performance & Retention)
“Soft” skills are a critical component to successful job performance and retention.
The Skills Development series helps those who may need to improve their Employment Readiness to enhance skills around; work attitudes, communication, time management and organization. The series presents information and scenarios within a workplace setting and clients receive an extensive set of notes highlighting key points from each program.

Action Plans
One of the issues many clients face when working through a transition process is how to organize and develop a plan with a goal, various strategies, activities and timeframes. In the Action Plan program clients learn why planning is important and how to develop an Action Plan. Clients work through the VISTA planning process and develop at least one step by step Career or Employment Action Plan. |

Manage Stress
Stress is a major factor for many people when they are looking for work and can often get in the way of making good decisions. Stress about keeping a new job can also be a serious issue and can effect performance and tenure. The Stress Management program takes clients through how to recognize, cope with and manage stress so it doesn’t become a barrier to client success. |

Job Search & Portfolio Development
The Job Search program covers; evaluating yourself, employment objectives , resumes & cover letters, networking, information interviews, interview skills, the hidden job market, a 90 second commercial, an employment portfolio, online job search applications, job banks and social media. Clients work on improving their research, presentation and interview skills and develop several resumes and cover letters as well as a comprehensive employment portfolio highlighting their strengths, capabilities, skills and experience. |

Employability Skills The Job Readiness program is a unique, animated series designed to cover basic employability skills for younger clients with little or no work experience or those with learning disabilities. Clients follow seven characters in their first jobs and are engaged in choosing options about how to act and behave in various work situations. Clients see the likely consequences of their choices with the focus on positive, productive behavior and meeting employer expectations.

Basic Workplace Skills
The Basic Workplace Skills program is designed to rapidly increase numeracy and literacy skills within a work context. The purpose is to improve functiional skills for employment and to prepare clients for employment related training. The program provides an initial assessment and placement into appropriate lesson levels, and tests each outcome as client's progress. The program also includes lessons on work habits, motivation, time management, critical thinking, problem solving and learning strategies. |
